Keeping up with a rapidly changing and increasingly complex world is crucial for a thriving business. You need to continuously evolve in an uncertain environment. It requires building new value and ways of working while accounting for legacy systems and processes along the way. Your organization has ventured into agile and you have one or more agile teams. But you’re wondering what to do next to scale up. This talk and discussion will cover some ways to approach a holistic scaled agile transformation in a legacy environment. By the end of this talk, future scaled agile leaders will be able to select a transformation path that fits your organization’s context and your starting point.
Healthcare delivery has major challenges with patient delays and wait times, which can be detrimental to patient care and have a significant impact on patient experience and clinical outcomes. Such problems are due to core issues around matching staff and equipment capacity to patient demand, any mismatch can lead to a processes with periods of long queues and other times with low utilization. This lecture will focus on studying processes, identifying root causes and using lean concepts to improve care delivery. Specific examples of proven impact will be used from emergency medicine, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, etc.

Agility in a federal environment can have its own unique challenges. USCIS has taken incremental steps over 6 years to evolve their software development process to support continuous value delivery. This session will give you the chance to learn more about the path USCIS OIT has taken. We will address gate reviews, documentation requirements, communication between development, operations, and the business, and safe experimentation. We will also talk about how the traditional Quality Assurance team took the lead to transform the organization and what’s on the horizon in our goal of continuous improvement.

This 2-day workshop, based on the book Lean Change Management, is designed to help you discover more effective practices for introducing, and managing change in your organization. You’ll learn by doing, not by reading PowerPoint slides! You’ll hear real stories about how to apply better, innovative practices to managing change.
